Nature delights me and inspires me to paint. In fact, I derive inspiration from all God's Creatures and each painting for me is a culmination of prayer. Growing up in Corvallis, Oregon, surrounded by McDonald forest as my backyard, creating art was a way of life for me. I was often found oil painting in my family’s basement for hours and was encouraged as my parents hung all my creations. My favorite time in grade school was when our art teacher entered the classroom in her brightly colored smock with her beautiful smile and art time began. I always wondered why everyone was not as excited as I was. That was the best time of the day for me!
As a teenager, I thought anyone can do art, I need to prove myself in the sciences. So, I earned degrees in Microbiology and Medical Technology; at least I wasn’t a “starving artist”. Years passed, two beautiful children were raised, and my original passion beckoned me. Today I feel the need to create daily or the day just isn’t complete. I enjoy capturing in paint, the delightful creatures and people that surround me, as well as the familiar vistas that I have grown up with here in Corvallis and beyond. Vacations to me involve wildlife and an immersion in “their” natural habitat, observing and enjoying their antics and quietly recording them with my camera for future paintings or painting en plein air in the moment.
